"I Think I Know Why He May Be Mentioning 'Demons' In His Name. I Think He's Tanked."
-- RD Reynolds on yours truly from the 10/2/09 episode of "Wrestlecrap Radio".
I’m not in a happy place right now. As of this column “Team Canada” beat “Team U.S.A.” 3-2 in Sudden Death Overtime to win the Gold Medal. Even though Canada has won more Gold Medals in the 2010 Winter Olympics, We (as in the United States) won more Medals than any country. U-S-A! U-S-A! With all that happening right now it looks like I have to do the following:
It's "Random Thoughts" time. The column where I take news items or things unable to fill a column; like those rotten Canadians, you put them in an Olympic Hockey Match, and you have a column that will taste foul to Americans but it is a column. Also this is the column where I answer anything that you send me in the form of an e-mail, a MySpace message, NOW Facebook message (link later on in the column), and a Twitter direct message. In exchange I'll answer it for you right here and I will promote or shill for you for anything. Word of Mouth advertising is one of the greatest ways to promote what a person has don't you know?
This time I have a couple of “Tweets” from Twitter that got my attention that I will like to respond to. I’ll respond to now and the other later. You’ll find out why I did this. ThaSpider4Life mentioned a “Tweet” about the last column about taking a look at TNA “BIG ANNOUNCEMENT” of “TNA Impact” committing hari-kari by going head-to-head with “WWE RAW”. He mentions…”TNA moving 2 Mondays 2 days before my b-day i think i just gonna set up 4 bigger things....” If the “Bigger Things” means getting wasted on your birthday then I just want to give you a quick shout out by saying a pre-emptive Happy Birthday! I don’t know how the strip clubs work in Manhattan but in Southern California you can get in for free on your birthday. BONUS! Also if you carry that party until when “TNA Impact” makes its Monday debut the show would be even greater because you would be wasted! Just sayin’ since TNA as of late is turning REAL bad with Samoa Joe’s “unexplained” kidnapping and the STELLAR tag match of Ric Flair/AJ Styles vs. Abyss/Hulk Hogan. Thanks for the love!
Well enough small talk. Most of the column this time around will be “The Follow-Up Version”. Most of the stories around will be some that I did say I will follow for you all.
Let’s start off with…
1. The Big News of the day is that WWE let go five wrestlers. Usually when WWE does this it gets a mention but this time around the five that was let go made fans noticed. “Hurricane Helms” was let go, Helms gets noticed because he probably was let go because he COULD had been “Strike 2” due to being caught with a Soma Pill & ECW being dead with nowhere to go. Scott Armstrong was let go probably the same reason as Helms minus the Soma being that ECW is dead and he has nowhere to go since he was a referee & a color commentator, somewhere in the world Larry Zbysko is saying “The Armstrong Curse has struck again!” Paul Burchill also was released which was really disappointing when the news was heard, Burchill was over as WWE’s “Captain Jack Sparrow” clone before he was removed off TV for a few years then came again for Vince McMahon’s “incest storyline” that he always wanted to air, with Burchill gone once again it’s because of ECW being dead and the typical WWE story of a great wrestler not being able to succeed due to whatever reasons WWE THOUGHT he was bad but the fans thought he was great. I hope Burchill gets picked up by TNA and use him right. Just right now Charlie Haas has been let go by WWE, Haas never seem to fit anywhere outside of “The World’s Greatest Tag Team” with Sheldon Benjamin, he quit WWE because due to backstage politics but was brought back saying he was willing to go to any brand but Smackdown, since then Haas barely got noticed at all. Haas has “Custom Muscle” which his Nutrient Supplement Store & his Online Store Nutrition Market that he started with JBL. Haas may not be hurting in the money business wise but good luck to these four releases.
Some of you may have noticed that I’ve missed a name. Well the fifth WWE wrestler that was released was Maria. Maria’s release was the most surprising since in a couple of weeks she’ll be on “The Celebrity Apprentice” along with ex-WWE/WCW World Champ Bill Goldberg. Quick history of Maria; Maria was a part of the GOD AWFUL “2005 Raw Diva Search” that gave us TNA Knockout Christy Hemme & “Skeletor” herself Michelle McCool. Maria along with the rest of the Diva Search Contestants gave birth to the “Un-Diva” movement that gave us such GREAT examples as Maryse, The Bellas, and more. Maria got over as the ditzy interviewer and posed for Playboy. Maria was getting a new push because of her appearance in “The Celebrity Apprentice” then being let go. Personally I’m happy about Maria gone because any “Un-Diva” gone makes WWE look better for me because a crappy wrestler gone, which Maria was, the better the product. Maria gone from the company means that there is no longer any WWE Divas left who posed for Playboy. But releasing Maria before “The Celebrity Apprentice” is just one of those moments in pro wrestling that made me scratch my head and go “Huh?!?” Before this column I wrote a “MySpace Blog” about all this and my opinion and I did “Tweet” about it with the warning to Maria fans they may not like it.
This is where my second “Tweet” came in. H0D01986 mentioned a couple of “Tweets” about the comments I made about Maria. Apparently he wasn’t REALLY happy about my blog about Maria. He mentions...”i just read it im a maria fan i didnt like it except for the last part about the apprentice live final”. That was about how in my opinion because usually on “The Celebrity Apprentice” there’s a live season finale who will crown the winner and depending on how Maria will perform on the show we might hear from her about her feelings about being let go. If Maria stays on the show for awhile or makes an impact on the show she can get a lot of time on the season finale or else it’ll be like Ashley Massaro’s five minutes on “Survivor” because she was gone on Week 2. I also sent a warning out saying that Maria’s fans might not like this. Then I got another “Tweet” from him saying…”i respect your opinion but i think it was sumthin i didnt want 2 read, im upset she left still”. Thanks for the Voltaire love ("I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it") but honestly I did tell all of Maria’s fans to stay away if you didn’t like it. Bottom Line on Maria for me is that she has always has been GOD AWFUL in the ring, she was just another pretty face to me that didn’t trigger jack crap on me screen wise (I do live in Southern California where all I have to do is fart and I hit either a hot babe, a stripper with fake boobs, or a porn star.), and she was an “Un-Diva” along with other WWE Divas in the roster (Kelly Kelly, “Skeletor”) that needs to eat a Big Mac once in awhile. But with all of the other releases from WWE I do hope that Maria lands on her feet because right now the world is a MUTHA F***ER!
2. A follow up on the Awesome Kong/Bubba The Love Sponge feud that I mentioned here. Quick recap of the story is that during the “Haiti Earthquake” news blitz, Bubba did mention on his radio show to “F**K Haiti” which royally pissed off Awesome Kong since she was raising money for Haiti which ended with Kong kicking Bubba’s ass! Fans did mention that Awesome Kong was taken off TNA’s UK Tour because they thought Kong was protesting, which was found out later that Kong was suspended from that tour due to Kong’s actions on Bubba. Well more news broke out on the feud last week. Awesome Kong is suing Bubba & AT&T for a threatening call that was made to her via a blocked number coming from a radio station that was coming from Bubba and not revealing the blocked number. Bubba responded in a press release that he didn’t call Awesome Kong, then later on Bubba’s radio show saying he didn’t call Kong, he’s quitting TNA, and he’s thinking suing TNA for Kong attacking him. This whole situation could had been averted by Bubba didn’t say those two words about Haiti. Honestly this whole situation is all Bubba’s fault so whatever happens to him I’m all right for it.
3. A follow-up on WWE NXT, WWE new show which is a knockoff of UFC’s “The Ultimate Fighter”. The format is WWE stars mentoring FCW talent. The news about WWE stealing the “NXT” name from an indy Scottish promotion was apparently something WWE knew about so they worked a deal with the wrestling promotion to buy the rights to use the “NXT” name globally. The news is that former ROH World Champion Daniel Bryan is being mentored by The Miz created a lot of shockwaves. The Miz responded to this by saying it his goal “to make him (Daniel Bryan) a star”. Coming from a guy that used to be on a LOT of “Real World/Road Rules” shows where most of the contestants ever did is drink and fight. That’s saying something! The ratings for the show did pretty good. Now if they can hold those ratings the show can be on for awhile.
4. Follow up on the whole “Piggy James” crap. For those that don’t know about “Piggy James” quick recap is that recent Smackdown arrival Mickie James who is constantly mocked by “Skeletor” Michelle McCool, a woman who is so skinny she’s anorexic, & Layla keep calling Mickie James fat even though she is not fat. Here I am happier than hell that Mickie James wins the Women’s Title hoping that this horrible storyline will end because it’s awful on all levels. Then to make matters worse “Skeletor” wins the title on the most recent episode of “Smackdown”. All I’m thinking about is that they are going to carry this storyline to Wrestlemania eh? What would be the point of using this storyline to one of WWE’s most watched PPVs ever? Couldn’t they had chosen Mickie James/Beth Phoenix feud be better from a ring perspective instead of Mickie James trying to carry “Skeletor”! BLEH!
5. Kind of a follow up on Chris Jericho after him being arrested for being drunk. Jericho mentioned recently on Twitter that he asked WWE backstage to set up a TV so he can watch Canada’s Qualifying Gold Medal Match Game so he can watch it or else he wouldn’t perform. Talk about being loyal to your country!
6. Another follow-up on a long line of WWE lawsuits. WWE and ABC Corps 1-10 Inc, the company that releases their children books, are being sued by another children’s book company over their trademarked “adjustable” book covers for their children’s books. The whole lawsuit is based on how these covers were made and how these covers had certain WWE stars like CM Punk & Edge on the covers. Looks like it’s another lawsuit where WWE is being sued for stealing somebody else’s ideas. I’ll follow it when I can.
7. “Cryme Tyme” ‘s Shad Gaspard has not only been making news that he’s also been releasing news as well. Gaspar has been mentioning on-and-off he was competing for the role of “Ukafa” in the new “Conan” movie, which instead goes to MMA star Bob Sapp. Furthermore Gaspard interviewed “SLAM! Sports” while promoting the “RAW vs. Smackdown 2010” game where he gives his opinion that while WWE is trying to push their programming as “PG” rated. Gaspard believes that WWE programming is in fact NOT “PG”. Quoting Gaspard from his SLAM! Sports interview: ”It's not the WWE's responsibility to raise kids. Even though our show is PG it's still for adults. We have hot girls on there, we have guys beating the hell out of each other, you know, there is nothing PG about sex and violence." Well at least we have one WWE employee on the record that Shad Gaspard is thinking what most fans are thinking.
8. WWE is planning to release a movie made for the theaters and it’s not a John Cena movie. They are making a movie for Batista that might be released next year called “Killer Karma”. The movie is about an ex-convict released from jail trying to get his life straight. Urm…yeah. Been there done that. Want to see Batista right now acting his straight-to-DVD movie he made with Rob Van Dam while he was hurt called “Wrong Side Of Town” is out right now. It will be reviewed in a future “Product Review” when I get my greedy little hands on it. I expect a train wreck of epic proportions.
9. News was REALLY that show look what I found to fill the spot at number 9. TNA barely does any media promotions for anything unless it’s something really big. Why? I have no idea. So when TNA actually does a promotion they came up with something really stupid. Over the weekend TNA tried to get into the “Guinness Book Of Records” for the World’s Biggest Gathering Of People With Mustaches. Now when you first read this you have to ask: “Raging, is that really it? Surely you jest!” Okay first, don’t call me Shirley! Second TNA held giveaways and promotions for what they called “The Hulk Hogan-Fu Fest” where they were giving prizes away for fans wearing Hogan’s trademark “Fu-Manchu Mustache”. TNA creates a promotion and its all around Hulk Hogan. TNA isn’t booking their promotion around Hogan’s whims at all. Nope!
10. And finally. No number 10. Still kind of upset that USA lost. Even though my co-owner in crime “ElektraWWF” is trying to make me feel better YET at the same time she’s, yes Elektra is a girl wrestling fan if you can imagine the paradox of it all, CANADIAN! It’s like taking care of injuries from a burn by using butter. Not cool. So instead I’m going to end this column by saying…
